ASU Organisers were briefed by Jetstar this morning on government guarantee flying

17 April 2020 By ASU, the airlines industry union

The schedule we have seen would be for the next 8 weeks from 20 April 2020, it has changed a lot and is not 100% locked in with government. We are able to give you an indication of stand up numbers and what the flying schedules are likely to mean for upcoming rosters.

The Australian Government has been in discussions with many airlines about maintaining services for essential travel. Jetstar will be allocated a share of the domestic and regional network links to run on behalf of government. This will be in addition to the small number of flights that have been operating from capital city ports: ADL, BNE, MEL & SYD and is likely to include minimal services to CNS.

Whilst some additional flights will operate from today, the current roster will continue up to 19 April 2020. A new roster will be published by 20 April but not before the final flying schedule has been finalised with government and is cleared for operation. This roster will run for at least 8 weeks subject to any changes that arise because of future impacts from the COVID-19 outbreak that are as yet unknown.

This means that some additional team members will be contacted in coming days fill the new rostering requirements. Staff will continue to be allocated to the new roster on 2 week rotations and in accordance with the current selection criteria.

If you have not notified Jetstar of your desire to be excluded from stand ups, please contact your airport management now.

JobKeeper

Jetstar advised us this morning that Individual employees have been sent a form that you will need to return to Jetstar. The form authorises Jetstar to pay you the JobKeeper payment of $1,500 per fortnight.

You can only be paid the JobKeeper payment from 1 employer. You need to return this form to Jetstar if the Company is your main employer for the purposes of claiming the payment.

More information about JobKeeper is here: http://www.asu.asn.au/news/categories/general/200409-federal-government-jobkeeper-payment

The ASU will continue to be by your side through this challenging time.
