The ASU contacted Jetstar for an update on the impact of the Brisbane lock down this week and can confirm that the airline will continue the same approach to short notice stand downs that members will be familiar with.
Key Points
The key points are, as follows:
- Cancelled flights will be removed from Jetstar’s flying schedule and changes reflected in rosters.
- If there are no tasks for an employee as a result of cancelled flights and other skill sets needed for the remaining flights, they will be stood down.
- If notice to stand down is provided to an employee within 48 hours, then the employee will be paid in accordance with their roster for those days/shifts.
Jetstar do not anticipate that any flight cancellations or roster changes will be made outside 48 hours’ notice, for the current 3 day lockdown period - which will be reviewed on Thursday, 1 April 2021.
We expect to be updated again If the lock down continues and further border closures lead to longer term schedule changes and will get that information to you if this happens.
The Federal Government needs to step up for aviation workers!
The ASU is calling on the federal government to extend the income support for international aviation workers to all stood down employees.
