ASU and ALAEA members have now endorsed a claim for our new Emirates agreement which was provided to the company representatives at our first negotiations meeting on 20th September 2013.
ASU and ALAEA members are represented by a National Negotiating Team (NNT) made up of delegates and officials as follows:
- Heather Niggendyker
- Tracey Chang-Time
- Gary Stewart
- Mustafa Soylu
- Linda White - ASU Assistant National Secretary
- Noel Speers - ALAEA National Industrial Officer
- Imogen Sturni - ASU VIC PS Organiser
What's happened so far?
At our first meeting we gave an overview of our claims for this agreement and have indicated to the company that we intend to provide more detailed claims at subsequent meetings.
The company reps tabled their outline of the claims they want to focus on which includes changes to:
- Higher duties
- Transport allowance
- TOIL
- Long service leave
- Paid travel time
- Mascot shift loading
The company also wants to introduce:
- Split shifts
- The ability to automatically recover over payments from wages
- Other technical changes to be detailed
At present we don't have much detail on what is proposed just a brief overview, what exactly the company is seeking will emerge at subsequent meetings as their detailed propositions are tabled.
The unions' NNT have also made a request for information of Emirates pertaining to our claims. We expect to receive the information requested before our next scheduled meeting.
What's next?
Your NNT is keen to ensure that we conclude negotiations as quickly as possible so a number of meetings have been set down as follows:
- 23 & 24 October
- 25 and 26 November
- 10, 11 and 12 December
