Your ASU National Negotiating Team (NNT) tabled all our remaining detailed claims for EBA 10 at our second negotiation meeting with Qantas management on 10th April 2013.
Now "the ball is in management's court" as they must respond comprehensively to our claims and also disclose what claims or changes the company wants from this round of bargaining.
Job security claims front & centre
Your NNT told management in no uncertain terms that we want the job security commitments we achieved in EBA 9 to be continued and we want a prompt response about the company's position on these claims as some of the existing commitments finish on 30 September 2013.
We also highlighted that members want commitments around the Emirates alliance and jobs at Qantas.
Your team provided the company with extensive detailed claims about rostering, staff travel, SP rates, the oncall allowance, right to request part time work, an allowance for working with unaccompanied minors, and all the claims that we did not cover at our first meeting. ASU members who would like a copy of the ASU's detailed claims should contact your local ASU organiser or an NNT member.
Qantas management did not formally respond to our claims – they have gone away to formulate the company's position on each claim.
What is next?
The next meeting with the company is scheduled for Tuesday 23rd April 2013. We expect to get the company's log of claims and hear their response to our detailed claims at this meeting.
