Qantas has now decided to extend the time frame for all EOIs that are being sent out today in telephone sales to 1st August 2014.
Earlier in the week the company had proposed that there would be 2 cut off dates for the EOIs – 4th July 2014 and 1st August 2014 if staff wanted a longer period – now there will be only one date to get the EOI that is the 1st August 2014. Qantas says they have technology difficulties with TALEO that makes having 2 cut off dates difficult to operate under the system.
There has been some confusion created by some Qantas HR managers who tried to say that staff would get more favourable treatment if EOIs were put in early – management say this is not true nor should it be.
Your ASU delegates held a teleconference with Qantas management on 5th June and canvassed a number of issues that have been raised with us in the members' meeting we have been holding this week, we have raised a number of issues including the following:
- The availability of redeployment in Brisbane
- Job swaps process ( there has been some wrong information given)
- Employee shares
- Shift work / premium work in Melbourne
- Financial Advisor dates
- Retraining opportunities
- Process for staff wishing to change their preference
- Trips to Hobart for those considering transfer
- Relocation package and the differences with what is offered and other packages
Qantas is to come back to us and we have asked for another face to face meeting to discuss these issues further and also talk more about how Hobart will operate in the future as many staff who are considering this option want this information as do the staff in Hobart already.
The union has also advised Qantas that we will require further consultation once the EOIs are completed to gain an understanding of how many staff have expressed an interest in the various options. The ASU will report the outcome of these discussions to all members.
