Using social media to build a better future - become an ASU Activist

23 October 2015 By ASU

Additionally, they underestimate their own power through social media to create change. The ASU National Office produced a Conference presentation to show our delegates that potentially a great deal can be achieved if we coordinate our activities on social media. We introduced them to the ASU Activists network and asked interested members to join.

The Conference presentation made use of a Prezi presentation and a Powtoon animation which were originally created for screening at the Victorian Private Sector Branch Delegates Conference 2015. The full presentation aimed to:

  1. explain the importance of social media as part of the Union's communications strategy;
  2. convince members that their info sharing on social media is a powerful contribution to getting messages out; and
  3. encourage members to join the ASU Activists secret group on Facebook where activist members are notified quickly of important campaign messaging so they can share it readily.

 Of course, most of the detail of the presentation was delivered by the speaker and the Prezi and the animation worked to support the messages. Both the Prezi and the Powtoon can be viewed below.
