The Australian Services Union has been concerned for some time about the systemic underpayment of hard working and skilled employees, having raised the issues previously with the Fair Work Ombudsman.
This is more evidence that the rules are broken in Australia where workers can be so substantially underpaid in a company that made over $300 million profit last year.
We are also concerned about cultural issues with Flight Centre management’s behaviour and the unreasonable expectations and pressure placed on workers.
We are currently in discussions with Flight Centre, where we aim to significantly improve workers’ pay and conditions and bring about significant change.
The ASU is deeply concerned about the welfare of staff given claims by the ABC about female staff being pressured to ‘flash’ at staff events.
