Your ASU negotiating team met with management again on 25 July 2017. We discussed a range of matters including:
- Making sure the workplace consultative committee works fairly
- Ensuring that the job selection process used by VA for promotions and progression is fair
- Enshrining a procedure to make sure annual leave applications are dealt with promptly is enshrined in the new Agreement
- Fair access to training for employees
However, VA has still not made any commitment to job security and to ensure no pay cuts for employees
ASU members have told management that we want more hours for VA employees (rather than the increasing use of external labour hire), and we don’t want to lose our overtime and penalty rates (which VA wants to cut).
We hope we will be able to discuss these matters with management at our next meeting on 15 August 2017.
However, we need to send a message to VA management that we care about our job security and we don’t want pay cuts.
